Our Story

For over 30 years, founders Kevin DiPatri and Jim Mullins have devoted their lives to providing safety and security to the residents of New Jersey, first as decorated members of the New Jersey State Police and, more recently, through their private security company.

In reaction to the surge of violent actions over recent years in schools, businesses and houses of worship, Kevin and Jim were compelled to share their experience to protect innocent lives from senseless violence. And thus, OPTU was born.

OPTU is an online training resource devoted to promoting the safety and security of America’s workforce, with practical strategies that are based in best practices during unexpected public acts of violence. Using advanced science in training and education, OPTU offers professional-level safety training to every company, from small businesses to Fortune 100 companies.
